Has its own page.

The four busiest

The cities that generate the most hauling each have a page of their own: what gets hauled there, which disposal sites the trucks run to, and the rules that change a job.

The rest of the Region

Nine more towns, each with its own disposal sites and rules.

Niagara Region · CityThorold

Thorold shares St. Catharines' southern border, and Highway 406 and the Welland Canal both run through it; the Thorold Tunnel on Highway 58 is the crossing. Excess soil and rubble go to Humberstone in Welland, since the Region's Thorold depot takes household hazardous waste only.

No Thorold Regional road carries a spring load limit. The City's site-alteration by-law wants the haul route with the permit and a record of every load and its hauler, and the noise by-law stops construction equipment from 9pm to 7am and all day Sundays and holidays.

Niagara Region · TownLincoln

Beamsville, Vineland and Jordan, west along the QEW. Lincoln is where the stone comes from: its quarries sit on top of the Escarpment, so every loaded truck comes down a grade. Since September 2025 the Town bans trucks over 15,000 kg from Thirty Road and Mountainview Road except for local deliveries; loaded hauls use Victoria Avenue, Ontario Street or Mountain Road. Mud Street West and Twenty Mile Road are on the Region's spring load list. Niagara Road 12 in West Lincoln is the nearest landfill.

Niagara Region · CityPort Colborne

At the south end of the Welland Canal on Lake Erie, down Highway 406 and Highway 140. The canal splits the city; Main Street and Clarence Street cross it. Port Colborne has quarries at the end of the canal, so stone is a short cycle; soil and rubble go up the 140 to Humberstone in Welland.

The city has more spring-restricted Regional roads than any other town: Forks, Miller, Schill and Wilhelm Roads, March 1 to April 30 at five tonnes per axle, plus the City's own half-load and no-truck streets on its truck-route map. The noise by-law keeps construction equipment out of residential areas from 7pm to 7am and on Sundays.

Niagara Region · TownFort Erie

The southeast corner of the Region, where the QEW ends at the Peace Bridge; Ridgeway, Stevensville and Crystal Beach are all Fort Erie. Rubble and mixed demolition waste do not go to the Bridge Street depot; they go to Humberstone.

Spring load limits on Bowen Road and Helena Street. The noise by-law stops construction equipment 9pm to 7am, and fill needs a permit under the Town's fill by-law, with a deposit against mud tracked onto the road.

Niagara Region · TownNiagara-on-the-Lake

Northeast of St. Catharines at the mouth of the Niagara River: Glendale, St. Davids, Queenston, Virgil and Old Town. The Town's traffic by-law keeps anything over 3,000 kg off the signed Old Town and Queenston streets, which is most of the grid, so a tri-axle gets in only where the signs allow and loads are staged from Niagara Stone Road, East West Line and Mississagua Street. Construction hours are 7am to 7pm. Stone is quarried in town at the Escarpment brow. Spring load limits on Lakeshore Road and Seaway Haulage Road.

Niagara Region · TownPelham

Fonthill, Fenwick and Ridgeville, southwest up Highway 20 from the 406. Pelham sits on the Fonthill Kame, the Region's sand-and-gravel hill, and Fonthill's hills put a climb on Highway 20 and Pelham Street for a loaded truck. Soil and rubble go to Humberstone. No Pelham Regional road carries a spring load limit. Fill needs a site-alteration permit from the Town.

Niagara Region · TownshipWainfleet

Rural township on the Lake Erie shore between Port Colborne and Haldimand, by Highway 3 west from Welland. Working quarries make stone local. Soil and rubble go back to Humberstone in Welland. Spring load limits March 1 to April 30 on Creek Road, Marshagan Road and Robinson Road. The Township's site-alteration by-law sets the haul route as a permit condition, takes a road-damage deposit on every permit, and bans site work on statutory holidays.

Niagara Region · TownshipWest Lincoln

Smithville and the farm townships on top of the Escarpment, southwest of St. Catharines by Regional Road 20 from the 406, or up from Grimsby on Regional Road 12, since the Lincoln climbs at Thirty Road and Mountainview Road are closed to trucks over 15,000 kg. The Township has bans of its own: no Class 8 trucks (15,000 kg and up) on Young Street, South Grimsby Road 8 or South Chippawa Road except for local deliveries. Spring load limits on Caistorville Road, York Street and Canborough Road. The Region's Niagara Road 12 Landfill is in the Township on Concession 7 Road, closed Mondays, taking clean concrete, brick and asphalt and commercial clean soil with approval. Stone comes from the Lincoln quarries at the Lincoln line.

Site alteration here means a stated haul route, truck hours 7am to 7pm on weekdays and a road-damage deposit; the noise by-law stops construction equipment from 9pm to 7am, 9am on Sundays.

Haldimand CountyDunnville

Over the townline in Haldimand County, on the Grand River where Highway 3 crosses it, the only bridge between Cayuga and the lake. Haldimand's rules apply from the Hald-Dunn Townline Road on: the County's heavy-truck by-law keeps anything over 5 tonnes on designated truck routes unless it is delivering, and its own half-load season, March 1 to April 30 at five tonnes per axle, covers Haldimand Roads 3, 7, 8, 49, 50, 53, 62, 70 and 74 and Riverside Drive. Fill needs a permit once a property takes more than 50 cubic metres in a year, about five truckloads, with the haul route and daily truck volumes on the application when the fill comes from outside the County.

Stone is local, with quarries at Dunnville and up Highway 3 at Cayuga. Demolition waste goes to the Canborough facility on James Road, which does not take soil or concrete, so clean fill needs a reuse site arranged first.

Trucks on every site

Jobs run on tri-axle dump trucks, which typically carry 20 to 22 metric tonnes. Screened grindings and aggregates are delivered by the truckload the same way.

Every truck on a job is paid the same rate, whoever owns it and whichever town the site is in.
